Useful Tax Reading for Canadians Abroad - When a Non-Resident Can Benefit from Filing

Came across Electing to File a Canadian Tax Return as a Non-Resident of Canada for Tax Purposes by Wayne Bewick of Trowbridge Professional Corporation in the Fall 2008 issue of Canadians Resident Abroad. Non-resident spouses with RRSPS and retirees may be able to get appreciable tax savings.

that's good to know, I did check a few years ago about our pension rights but always assumed that we'd lose 25% to taxes. Still got a few years to go till I can take advantage of that.

Glad it was useful Rob. Same for me, I did not know this. For now I'm still keeping my Canadian residency, though for some government departments the rules are are more or less restrictive as to what makes you resident or not. Gonna do a post on that.
